Stephanie Fry Rallanka is one of the featured artists in “Six from City” continuing through April 22, at Beatnik Studios. It was a joy to catch up with her and see how she goes about creating her compelling images. Here’s what she has to say about her paintings:
“My work expresses how the all-wrong can be the all-right: a taste of redemption, struggle and beauty found in disaster. Mistakes are my media. How can the ugly be beautiful? Stitching the canvas evokes healing and creative energy all at once. Scriptural imagery and text reference a place of mystical ecstasy where the ‘lamb once slain’ triumphs: a symbol of how innocence and weakness, rather than perfect strength, may triumph. The effect is redemptive and alluring, drawing from deeply interior yet universal experiences.”
You can see her work along with the rest of the show this week: Tues, 10 am – 5 pm. Wed. 11:30 am – 5 pm and Fri. 11:30 am – 5 pm. Please note that the gallery is closed this Thursday, April 21st for a special event.
